Every morning, i leave for work. Each of my “kids” gets a hug, a kiss, and an “i love you, be good today!” Each one has a “job”. Zeus protects the house, Hera is the vocals, and Chance makes sure big brother has back up.
Upon coming home, I am greeted by my pack. It is the greatest feeling in the world. Since Hera came back home, everyone is more lively and she is her old silly self. She has now taken to greeting us by standing on our mantle next to our front door, like a cat, CatDog if you will. We are greeted with a shower of kisses, and a wiggle butt from how hard she wags that little tail. Her nickname since she was teeny has been “Little Butt” because her little butt always wiggles when she’s happy. And that happiness sure runs off. No one can be sad, mad, or anything else than smiling and happy. It’s contagious.
Chance greets us at the door with a windmill tail and happy ears. He is the happiest, silly dog. Big ole floppy ears, smiles, and his windmill tail just adds to the fact of his cuteness. He hops as well, which looks hysterical because he has long, lanky legs, and is tall and slim. He can hop as high as 4 feet, minimum! Another, just happy-go-lucky puppy, with energy for days. Silly, bouncy baby boy.
And of course, Zeus. Zeus is very reserved, happy, and waits for you to come to him. He waits patiently on the couch. He is a very shy boy. He even has anxiety himself. That is why we are so close. Zeus was our first dog together. He has only known us, and my friend that we adopted him from. He guards and always knows who comes through that front door. So, everyday, he will patiently wait his turn, quietly, on the couch. He will give kisses in multiples of three, as if to actually tell you “I love you!”
Being greeted this way makes everything worthwhile. It melts all the stress of the days away. When surrounded by our kids, we worry less and love more.
The dog life is the best life.
